HubSpot connects to Stripe in three ways. You can connect Stripe as HubSpot's payment processor, so HubSpot invoices, payment links, quotes and subscriptions charge through your Stripe account. You can install HubSpot's free Stripe data sync app, which copies Stripe customers, invoices, products, subscriptions and payments into HubSpot. Or you can migrate from Stripe processing to HubSpot payments. A HubSpot account can connect only one Stripe account for payment processing, and every brand shares it.
Checked against HubSpot's knowledge base and its App Marketplace listings on 19 October 2026. HubSpot changes these tools often, so the changelog at the end records each update.
What are the ways to connect HubSpot and Stripe?
HubSpot's guide to using Stripe with HubSpot lists them side by side. (HubSpot: use Stripe with HubSpot)
| Option | What it does | Which way the data goes |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe as a payment processor | HubSpot's payment tools charge through your Stripe account | From HubSpot to Stripe |
| Stripe data sync app | Copies Stripe records into HubSpot | Mostly from Stripe to HubSpot |
| Migrate to HubSpot payments | Replaces the Stripe connection with HubSpot's own payments | Moves your records into HubSpot payments |
The first two are separate setups. HubSpot's guide says payment processing isn't set up in HubSpot unless you connect Stripe or HubSpot payments as a payment processor. Installing the data sync app doesn't do it.
How does Stripe payment processing in HubSpot work?
You connect a Stripe account in HubSpot's payment settings. After that, contracts, invoices, payment links, quotes, legacy quotes and subscriptions created in HubSpot can take payments through it. (HubSpot: connect Stripe as a payment processor)
What HubSpot's article says about it:
- Who can connect it: a Super Admin, or a user with the "Manage payments and subscriptions" permission.
- How many Stripe accounts: one. A HubSpot account can't have more than one Stripe account connected, and if you use brands, all brands use the one connected account.
- Payment methods: credit and debit cards. Bank debits such as ACH, SEPA and BACS, and buy now, pay later options, depend on where your Stripe account is based.
- Fees: HubSpot charges a platform fee on each payment on top of Stripe's own fees. The article states the rate.
- Records: invoices and subscriptions you create in HubSpot after connecting aren't created in Stripe. Payment details such as the gross amount and fees do appear in your Stripe account.
- Your other Stripe integrations: connecting Stripe to HubSpot doesn't affect them.
- Test accounts: it can't be connected to sandbox, developer test or partner demo accounts.
HubSpot's Marketplace listing for Stripe payment processing adds one more line: "This integration does not provide a data flow from Stripe to HubSpot." HubSpot is where payments start and are managed, and processing fee details stay in Stripe. (HubSpot Marketplace: Stripe payment processing)
What does the Stripe data sync app sync?
The Stripe data sync app is built by HubSpot and free to install, though it needs a Stripe account and some features need paid HubSpot subscriptions. (HubSpot Marketplace: Stripe data sync)
| Stripe | HubSpot | Direction |
|---|---|---|
| Customers | Contacts | Both ways |
| Invoices | Invoices | Stripe to HubSpot |
| Products | Products | Stripe to HubSpot |
| Subscriptions | Custom objects | Stripe to HubSpot |
| Payment transactions | Custom objects | Stripe to HubSpot |
| Other Stripe data | Data Studio | Stripe to HubSpot |
Directions are from HubSpot's guide to using Stripe with HubSpot. The Marketplace listing adds two plan limits:
- Syncing subscriptions needs an Enterprise subscription, because they land in custom objects.
- Custom field mappings need Operations Hub Starter or Professional.
Use the data sync app when your payments already run in Stripe, through your website, a checkout or another tool, and your team wants to see them in HubSpot. It copies what Stripe already has. It doesn't create charges.
What happens if you migrate to HubSpot payments?
HubSpot payments is HubSpot's own processor, and HubSpot says it is still powered by Stripe. Migrating ends the Stripe processing connection. (HubSpot: migrate Stripe payment processing to HubSpot payments)
- What moves: invoices, payment links, quotes and legacy quotes, stored payment methods, and auto-charged and manually billed subscriptions.
- Who can apply: a Super Admin starts it, and a business owner or representative with at least 25% ownership completes the application. You need a US, Canadian or UK bank account and a paid version of HubSpot.
- Refunds: once you migrate, refunds on payments Stripe processed through HubSpot can no longer be issued.
HubSpot payments and Stripe can't both be connected to the same HubSpot account. To go the other way, from HubSpot payments to Stripe, you disconnect HubSpot payments first. (HubSpot: connect Stripe as a payment processor)
What happens to subscriptions if you disconnect Stripe?
HubSpot's article says subscriptions managed in HubSpot are canceled and their payments aren't collected, and you have to recreate them after you reconnect. Subscriptions managed in your Stripe account stay active.
To switch to a different Stripe account, you disconnect the current one and connect the new one. That makes a change of Stripe account a change to every subscription HubSpot manages, so plan it for a quiet week.
Can each location have its own Stripe account?
Not through HubSpot's payment processing. One HubSpot account connects one Stripe account, shared by every brand. Stripe opens an account for each legal entity, so a group with an LLC per location has a Stripe account per location and only one place to connect them.
Can you connect multiple Stripe accounts to HubSpot? walks through the three options: share one Stripe account, run a HubSpot portal per entity, or use an app that sends each deal's payments to the right entity's account.
Where do payment plans and the books fit?
The integration decides where a payment is charged. A payment plan also needs a schedule, a deposit and the balance on set dates, each charged without someone sending a new link. How far HubSpot's own tools go depends on the tool and your plan. HubSpot payment plans with more than four payments covers the options, and taking a deposit and scheduling the balance from a HubSpot deal walks through the setup.
The books are a second connection. The HubSpot QuickBooks integration syncs invoices and their payments, and the Stripe QuickBooks integration covers how Stripe's payments, fees and payouts reach QuickBooks.
What should you check before you connect?
- Which job you need: charging customers from HubSpot (payment processing), seeing Stripe payments in HubSpot (the data sync app), or both.
- Which Stripe account: one per HubSpot account. If your locations are separate companies, decide whose account takes the money before the first invoice goes out.
- Fees: HubSpot's platform fee and Stripe's processing fee both come out of each payment. Decide where they get recorded, since HubSpot's QuickBooks app doesn't create the expense for you.
- Subscriptions already in Stripe: they keep running in Stripe. Moving them into HubSpot is a separate migration.
- Payouts: a Stripe payout is your available balance at the time it's created, so one bank deposit rarely matches one invoice. (Stripe: payouts) Reconciling Stripe payouts per location shows how to match them.
