Yes. Xero publishes its own Stripe app. You connect Stripe under Payment Services in Xero's settings, your customers can then pay Xero invoices by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and Xero matches those payments automatically as they arrive through the Stripe bank feed. Payments taken outside Xero invoices still need recording at their full amount, with Stripe's fee as an expense and each payout as a transfer to the bank, because a payout is a net figure. With several locations, connect each location's Stripe account to that location's Xero organisation.
Checked against Xero's app listing and partner page and Stripe's documentation on 21 October 2026. Both change their integrations, so the changelog at the end records each update.
Does Xero integrate with Stripe?
Yes, and Xero builds the connection itself. Xero's app store lists a Stripe app "By Xero". (Xero App Store: Stripe)
According to that listing:
- Setup. In Xero, go to General Settings, then Payment Services, click Get Started next to "Credit Cards powered by Stripe", and sign up for a Stripe account or log in to the one you have.
- Invoices. Customers pay online invoices sent from Xero with debit and credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
- The feed. Transaction data flows into Xero, and "Xero will automatically match payments as they come through your Stripe bank feed."
- Price. No setup or monthly fee from Xero for the app. You pay Stripe's processing fees, which the listing says are subject to change.
Xero's Stripe partner page adds that you can create a Payment Link to get paid without an invoice, and choose to pass on or share fees with customers. (Xero: Stripe partnership) The listing itself warns that passing Stripe fees on to customers may be restricted in some places, so check your state's rules before you turn that on.
What does the Stripe feed bring into Xero?
The feed is the part that saves the most work. For a Stripe payment against a Xero invoice, Xero's partner page says payments and fees are matched automatically to the correct invoices.
Stripe's documentation describes the same kind of feed from its side. For platforms that embed it, its Xero app synchronizes sales transactions, fees, payouts and refunds into the Xero bank feed. (Stripe: accounting software integrations)
What the feed can't do is decide where a payment belongs when it didn't start as a Xero invoice. A payment taken on a website checkout, a payment link or a plan run from another system arrives as a line in the feed, and someone still has to code it.
How should Stripe payments, fees and payouts be recorded in Xero?
A Stripe payout "reflects your available account balance at the time it was created". (Stripe: payouts) That balance has already had fees and refunds taken out, so the payout is not your sales figure.
| In Stripe | In Xero |
|---|---|
| A payment | A payment against the customer's invoice, or income at its full amount |
| The processing fee on it | An expense |
| A refund or a lost dispute | Money out against the same customer or income account |
| A payout | A transfer from the Stripe account in Xero to your bank account |
If Stripe appears in Xero as its own account fed by the bank feed, that account works like a clearing account. It holds what Stripe has collected but not yet paid out, and after each payout it should come back to the payments still waiting.
Stripe's payout reconciliation report shows what went into each payout. Its Itemized download lists every payment, refund, dispute and fee in the payout. (Stripe: payout reconciliation report) It works only with automatic payouts, and Stripe can't say which transactions an instant payout included, so instant payouts are matched by hand. Reconciling Stripe payouts per location walks through one payout line by line.
Can Xero charge a payment plan through Stripe automatically?
Partly. Xero's listing says its auto pay works only on repeating invoice templates that are approved for sending. (Xero App Store: Stripe)
A payment plan is usually one invoice paid in parts: a deposit, a run of payments and often a last payment that differs by a few cents. Before you rely on repeating invoices for plans, test two things:
- One balance or many invoices. Whether your plan shows as one open balance the customer pays down, or as a new invoice each period that your team has to tie back to the sale.
- Uneven payments. How a deposit and a different last payment fit a repeating template.
Does Stripe offer payment plans? covers how the plan itself can run on Stripe instead.
What if each location has its own Stripe account and Xero organisation?
Stripe ties each account to one business's tax ID and legal entity, so separate entities need separate accounts. Each account can pay out to its own bank account. (Stripe: multiple accounts) A group that runs each location as its own company therefore usually has a Stripe account per location already.
If each location also keeps its own Xero organisation, the integration becomes a set of pairs: Denver's Stripe account feeds Denver's Xero organisation, Phoenix's feeds Phoenix's. Before you connect, check for each pair:
- That the Stripe account connected under Payment Services is the one for that organisation's legal entity.
- That the bank feed lands in that organisation's own Stripe account in Xero, so one location's payments never reach another's books.
- How Xero bills you for each organisation you add.
If your locations share one legal entity, one Stripe account and one Xero organisation can work, with a tracking category on every transaction to split income by location. Each payment then needs its location attached before the payout can be split. QuickBooks class vs location, and Xero tracking explains tracking categories, and one LLC per location covers why groups split into entities.
What should you check before you connect Stripe to Xero?
- Which Xero organisation each Stripe account should feed, location by location.
- The four entries. Payments, fees, refunds and payouts each have a home in your chart of accounts.
- Invoices. Payments taken outside Xero invoices are applied to the right open invoice, not left as unexplained lines in the feed.
- The Stripe account in Xero comes back to the unpaid-out balance after each payout, and someone checks it.
- Your payout schedule. Automatic payouts keep Stripe's reconciliation report available. Instant payouts need matching by hand.
- Fees passed on. If you add a card fee for customers, confirm the rules where you operate first.
The same checks apply to QuickBooks Online. The Stripe QuickBooks integration covers that side.

Payment plans built from the deal in HubSpot or Pipedrive, with each location paid into its own account and books.
Paycove charges each payment through the Stripe account of the deal's location and records it against the invoice in that location's Xero organisation.
